Shunya is always excited about supporting local South Asian arts groups! Life is all about celebrating the Little Victories. And what better way to do that than to hang out with friends and listen to an awesome band!

@UH India Studies Program presents: lecture and movie

The University of Houston India Studies Program is having two great events coming up in September:

On Thursday, September 20 2012 at 4 pm: a talk on “Caste, Sexuality, and the Limits of Liberalism” by Ania Loomba from UPenn.

On Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 1:30pm: movie presentation of Milan Luthria’s “The Dirty Picture” followed by a panel of Indian film experts.

Shunya Monthly Play Readings

We are coming up on our next monthly play reading on Saturday, 5/21/11. If you are interested in South Asian theatre, this is a great way to get involved with Shunya. To learn more about our play readings, send me an email at

Reading, Reading, Reading

We have two events coming up in the near future:

First, tomorrow, April 16 at 4pm we have an informal play reading at Midtown Art Center. We generally try to meet monthly to read new plays and have a discussion. If you are interested in learning more about Shunya or possibly volunteering with us, this is a great place to meet us.

Second, NEXT Saturday, April 23, 2011 we have a more formal staged reading with associated lecture. You can read about it on our homepage and buy tickets there. Hope to see you there!
