How to Volunteer

  • Attending a play reading is the best way to get to know us as a troupe and get involved.

Play readings are informal monthly meetings (dates below) where volunteers read and discuss an English language play relevant to Shunya’s mission. Its informal — you don’t need to have any experience with theater to join. We use these meetings to vet plays to help the Board decide which ones to produce, and they are also a good introduction to see how volunteers can get involved further. Receive notifications of these meetings by signing up for our Volunteer email list at this link.

If you have questions or are thinking about attending for the first time, call Sanjay Mediwala (Managing Director) at 832-452-5193 or email him at

  • Join as a pre-production volunteer. Once you have gotten to know us, you can join our internal volunteer discussion Slack to get involved in setting up our next productions. Please email Sanjay Mediwala if you are interested.
