Shunya 2012 Season and Auditions!

Shunya will be presenting two fantastic plays this season:

In May 2012
Art, by Yasmina Reza
This comedy is an exploration of the relationships of three adult male friends grappling with identity, and asks, “Are you who you think you are or are you who your friends think you are?” Entertaining and thought provoking, this play will leave audiences talking.

In August 2012
The Adventures of Hanuman, by Aditi Kapil
This will be Shunya’s first every production of a youth musical, complete with live music and original songs. This is certain to be a fantastic family event.

Work is already well under way for these productions. We are happy to announce auditions for our May production of ART. We are looking for three male actors between 30 and 45.

Auditions will be held at:
Barnevelder Movement Arts
2201 Preston Street
Houston, TX, 77003

Audition schedule:
Tuesday, February 28 at  6-9 pm
Saturday, March 3 at 1-4pm

Showdates: May 4-6 and 11-13

Rehearsals begin in March.

Looking for musicians for Shunya’s first ever musical – The Adventures of Hanuman!

We need percussionists (both Eastern and Western), keyboardists, flautists (both Eastern and Western), guitarists, and any other instrumentalists out there!
The main melodies have already been composed, so we need people who are comfortable with improvisation, and who can come to a few jam sessions in order to organically arrange the musical pieces.
Musicians will also need to be available for the all of tech week (July 30 – Aug 2, 2012) and the days of the performances (Aug 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12).
Please email yaksha@shunyatheatre.org if you are interested!
