Win Hanuman tickets before you can buy them!

We want you to connect with Shunya!

We have a wonderful play coming up in August — Aditi B. Kapil’s “The Adventures of Hanuman,” and all you need to do to win tickets is connect with us either by joining our email list, “liking” us on Facebook, or following us on Twitter. Once you’ve done this, email me (Sanjay@ShunyaTheatre.org), post a message on our Facebook timeline, or tweet to us and tell us who referred you. We will not only give tickets to a randomly drawn new follower, but also to the top referrer!

Casting Call: South Asian Male for Austin’s Frontera Fest Long Fringe Festival

I received a casting call from Pratima Agrawal:

Looking for a South Asian male actor for a new play entitled Gods and Idols, by Austin playwright Jason Rainey.   The play will be performed as part of Austin’s Frontera Fest Long Fringe Festival in January/February 2013.

Gods and Idols centers on the growing obsessions of a young couple, Harris and Joan.  While driving on the interstate a few years earlier, Harris nearly strikes a Sikh man on a bicycle.  Now Harris finds the man haunting his dreams, circling his apartment on the same bicycle.  Who is this man, and what does he want to tell Harris?  Meanwhile, Joan spends more and more time following a local musician, but who has more to gain from Joan’s loyalty?  Harris and Joan strive to comprehend their fixations without losing their identities.

ROLE:  Man on Bike – Indian male; 20s-30s

While auditions for other roles will not take place until September 2012, we are looking to fill this role early.  Rehearsals will begin in October 2012.  All rehearsals/performances will take place in Austin.  While we cannot offer travel/lodging compensation, there will be possible deferred pay following the festival.

If interested, please submit headshot/resume to oneworldtheatre@gmail.com.
