Rabindranath Tagore: A Documentary by Satyajit Ray
Friday, Jun 10, 2011; 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM; Admission: $7Created to celebrate the centenary of poet Rabindranath Tagore in May 1961,
the documentary Rabindranath Tagore comprises dramatized episodes from his
life, plus archived images and documents. Satyajit Ray has been reported to
have said, “Ten or twelve minutes of it are among the most moving and
powerful things that I have produced.”
A reception in the museum galleries follows the screening.

The Prophet and the Poetis based on the exchange of letters and articles between Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore over 25 years, with the Indian freedom struggle as the backdrop. The letters reveal how the two personalities differed greatly on many important issues while maintaining great respect and admiration for each other.
